All delicious, all clean, all homegrown healthy vegan food. A goat stable. BYOB. Music party in the living room. Need I say more?

We had a very intimate concert here, completely unplugged, except for my bass amp. There is a fine art to mixing vocals and instrumentation in thin air. Usually you have everything plugged into a mixer where volume and levels and effects can be controlled at the flick of a switch. Now, suddenly, we find ourselves completely exposed, without the safety and security of a microphone between us and the audience. We felt almost naked…..and we liked it!

Performing almost naked at the Pie Bird, what a great way to end the tour!

Ummmm…..OK! Let’s do this! Let’s have a rock and roll show on your deck, on the beautiful oceanfront!

The day is perfect, sunny 30 degree weather, salty ocean breeze, cold beer, lots of food, and of course, fantastic live music! It was really nice to meet JPs family and friends, so thank you for coming out! Special thanks to Dan for bringing the PA and being an excellent sound man, and to Sharon and Mike for all the love and support!

Let’s do it again next spring….

Initially we were a little worried about our Rock Show in Halifax. It was a rainy and gloomy Saturday night and we weren’t sure how many people would come out.

It started off quiet but people were drawn into the restaurant, either by the smells of the good food, a need to quench their thirst, or possibly the great music that was playing that night. We ended up packing the house and got our first request to play an original song twice in a row. Funny story….

Todd, the owner of the bar loved our feel good country tune “Monday Morning Train”. He said, “haven’t you ever been listening to your iPod, and loved a song soooo much that you just skipped back and listened to it again? Well that’s how I feel now! Can you please play that song again?!!?!?!” Look at the picture below and tell me how you say no to this wonderful man…..

Thank you Halifax! We love your east coast fare, positive attitudes and kindness, and your appreciation for good music. Please go to Stayner’s Wharf if you are ever in Halifax and have the curry salmon….

I have not seen my cousin in about 6 years. She sends me an email saying “hey, I heard you are coming to Fredericton, do you need a place to stay?” I send one back saying “sure, it will be nice to see you!” 6 years is a long time to go without speaking to or seeing someone…..

The drive into Fredericton is filled with beautiful scenery: lush green forests, water, and bridges everywhere. My cousin lives just outside of town on a beautiful lot with 1.5 acres, and a push lawn mower (I imagine it would take at least 8 hours to mow the lawn on foot).

What a lovely surprise, that after 6 years my cousin and I find ourselves to be very like minded people. We originally planned on staying for one evening, but after hanging out Thursday night we didn’t want to leave!

The Capitol Complex is a very unique venue. It consisted of three very different bars in one building….you should check it out if you are ever in the area. We also met the guys from FeelsGood – an art/music collective. Check them out at: http://www.myspace.com/feelsgoodca or http://www.facebook.com/pages/FEELS-GOOD/97134618957. Feels good, feels good, feels good, doesn’t it? Special thanks to Doug for the great photos.

Also got to check out some awesome local talent:

So cheers to family, art, music, and feeling good! We will be back one day, Fredericton….

Well, it can’t all be rainbows and butterflies…

While the girls were performing a rock and roll show to an enthusiastic audience, trouble was brewing in the streets of Montreal….

Orca was the target of vandalism under $5000

Her window was smashed, her locks were violated and damaged, and she was no longer able to safely protect the personal items she once stood watch over.

Jennifer Plummer was first to arrive on the scene. The sight of the broken shards of glass on the ground caused her heart to sink. At once, she knew what had happened, “the zombies finally got us”, she thought to herself…

Luckily the girls, and all of their gear were safely inside L’Escalier during the attack. A police report was filed, and the girls, saddened by the hopelessness of poverty in the city, decided to cut their time short in Montreal and carried on a very breezy 8 hour drive to New Brunswick.

The next few days were filled with numerous phone calls to insurance brokers, auto wreckers, car repair shops…

As Orca was pieced back together, the girls took time to reflect on all that they are grateful for in this beautiful life. They enjoyed some family time, took long walks on the beach, and played guitar, contemplating new and profound lyrics to record on their next album.

Nothing can stop these girls. Laugh Rebel is on a mission to spread funky folk acoustic soul across Canada, coast to coast, so watch out Zombies!; sticks and stones may break their windows, but vandalism only makes them stronger (and more cautious)…..

To Fredericton——->
